LegalTechTalk (LTT) is one of the largest legal technology events in the UK, attracting over 4,000 professionals, including corporate leaders, startup founders, solution providers, investors, and government representatives.

The Challenge: Bringing Accessibility to a Large-Scale Event

The great team behind LTT 2024 knew that their event would have a lot of loud background noise and music, so it would be hard to hear the speakers during main stage events. Their plan was to have Pytch, their AV team, set up screens around the space so that attendees could watch the livestreams instead. However, while Pytch did an excellent job providing the visuals and sound, they could not provide live captions to display alongside the livestreams.

With multiple main-stage presentations and hundreds of speakers, the LTT team faced a significant challenge: ensuring that all attendees could clearly follow the discussions, despite background noise and large venue acoustics.

Key Obstacles:

• The event featured loud background noise and music, making it difficult to hear speakers clearly.

• Live-stream screens were set up across the venue, but they lacked real-time captions.

• Post-event content needed to be repurposed for marketing and social media, requiring accurate, searchable transcripts.
  

The Solution: Claudio Live for Real-Time Captions & Post-Event Transcripts

The goal was to live-caption the main stage throughout the entire event and broadcast the video and captions to a screen in the reception area, that way attendees who couldn’t hear the speakers on stage could still follow along by reading the subtitles.

The deadlines were tight, so integrating our system into theirs was next to impossible. That’s when we worked with Pytch to develop a green screen solution. We would generate a green screen video with the captions below, and they would overlay the actual live feed on top.

We used our transcript automation service, Claudio, to process the audios from each speaking section. It then generated over 95% accurate live-captions that were also automatically edited to fix any grammar errors in real time.

As it was very busy during the event and Pytch had to monitor multiple stages, we agreed to provide all transcripts and captions post-event instead of immediately after each section on-stage. Once the event concluded, Pytch provided us with all audios and videos, and we in turn processed and provided them with the full transcripts and subtitle files for them to review and use.
